Catching On

We can challenge the status quo or norms of society through civil man-made attempts to change our culture, and that is good. We can also go behind the scenes and pull some aces from up our sleeves, letting God’s Spirit handle power-play spiritual dynamics. When we realize the weight of glory in God’s single act of His Son’s divine resurrection from the dead, we are awakened to the sheer volume of charges and explosive possibilities of changed lives. God’s pure, unadulterated love does that.

By plugging into the source of power and TNT potential that our God possesses, we are spiritually charged, loaded to catapult a massive attack on the enemy camp. This can be subtle, but God waves a banner of love before He goes marching into battle. Love conquers the ugliness of any hint of evil and beautifies everything it touches. When His love makes contact with even the driest and most bristled of souls, it seers their wounds in one single act of cleansing. “Hurting people hurt people,” as it’s been said. When the fire of God’s all-consuming love touches a hurt person, their wounds begins to heal.

How does one let God’s love flow through them in such a way? Utilizing His Spirit through the sword, His Word, on the offense. Studying the Word to know when the Holy Spirit is offering ammo to lock and load. Unsheathing the sword – opening it, reading it aloud, bringing scripture to mind, and speaking it into the everyday conversations we hold with others is a viable threat to the walking dead. We hold the potential of changing lives with our words –particularly God’s words. We need to tune into what His Spirit is speaking through those words to us, to other believers, and to the world.

Verses to Fuel the Fire:

“And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.” Acts 6:7

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. “ Ephesians 6:12-13
